Joy Synth

Description: I found an old electronics kit that I had received as a gift when I was six. At the time I had thought it was too confusing, but when I took another look at it I realized it was really cool. One of the projects made a "synthesizer" using a 555 timer controlled by a potentiometer. I soon realized that a joystick from an old Gamecube controller could be substituted for the pot, and after a night of feverish soldering it was done and working. I put it in an Altoids tin because I had one lying around, the electronics fit easily inside, and I wanted the bling factor for school. It was a big hit the last day of school, but it didn't take long for somebody to break it. I recently fixed it and it still sounds as bad as ever.
